A suspect in the murder case, filed over the killing of Rohingya leader Mohibullah, gave confessional statement before a court in Cox’s Bazar.

Cox’s Bazar Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Md Helal Uddin recorded the statement of the suspect, Mohammad Ilias, on Saturday after expiry of his three-day remand, Superintendent of Police Md Hasanuzzaman said on Sunday.

Ilias, a Rohingya man, along with two others — Abdus Salam and Ziaur Rahman — was remanded for three days on October 6 in connection with the murder case.

Earlier on October 3, a court in Cox’s Bazar placed two other Rohingya suspects — Mohammad Selim alias ‘Lomba Selim’ and Shawkat Ullah — on three-day remand in the case.

Unknown assailants gunned down Mohibullah in his office at Kutupalang camp in Ukhiya on September 29.

Mohibullah’s brother Habibullah filed the case the next day with Ukhiya police station, accusing unidentified people of killing his brother.

Police have so far arrested the five suspects in connection with the murder.
