The ongoing lockdown situation across the country will remain effective for next two days, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said.
He said that this extension of restrictions on public movement will be effective until Tuesday. Quader was speaking to media at his residence in the capital on Sunday.
The 7-day relaxed lockdown was scheduled to end at midnight on Sunday.
The government earlier decided to enforce a seven-day strict lockdown from April 14 as COVID-19 infections kept surging with each passing day.
On Saturday, the country registered 77 more deaths in 24 hours until Saturday morning, shattering all of its previous records.
