Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Sunday called upon the people to get vaccinated without any fear, saying only this can help people achieve victory against the deadly novel coronavirus.
“Only vaccination can lead us to win the war against Covid-19,” he said, speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Covid-19 vaccination program at Dhaka Metropolitan General Hospital in Dhaka today.
The mayor said, “I would urge everyone to register their names on a priority basis without fear and receive this vaccine as soon as possible.”
Thanking Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for tackling the pandemic situation prudently, he said, “The global epidemic has taken a heavy toll and caused huge losses due to the global lockdown. But with the far-reaching thinking of PM Hasina, we will overcome this epidemic very soon.”
“There have been a lot of discussions, criticisms and frustrations about vaccination around the world… But because of the strong leadership of PM Hasina, the people are now able to avail themselves of vaccines,” he added.
Noting that the vaccination program has been managed in an extremely planned manner, Taposh said, “Since January 26, it has been monitored for a few days, whether there are any side effects.”
“After examining all aspects, the Prime Minister has taken action on the basis of scientific opinions. In-shaa Allah, everyone in Bangladesh would be kept free from coronavirus through this vaccination program,” he added.
Haji Mohammad Selim, MP, ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, chief executive officer of DSCC, Brigadier General Dr Sharif Ahmed, chief health officer and Akramuzzaman, director of Dhaka Metropolitan General Hospital, were present, among others, on the occasion.
At the end of the program, a registered person named Shah Alam received the vaccine.
On the first day, 56 people registered for vaccination at Dhaka Metropolitan General Hospital.
Secretariat Clinic in DSCC area, Fulbaria Government Employees Hospital, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Matuail Shishu Matrisadan Hospital, Rajarbagh Police Hospital, Azimpur Mother and Child Hospital, Kamrangirchar 31 bedded hospital, Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital, Mugda Medical College Hospital, Dhaka Metropolitan General Hospital in Nayabazar, Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, BGB Hospital in Pilkhana and Dhaka Metropolitan Children’s Hospital in Lalbagh are conducting the vaccination programme.
Also, DSCC run -Kasaituli Nagar Matrisadan, Hazaribagh Nagar Matrisadan, Dhalpur Nagar Matrisadan, Uttar Mugda Matrisadan and Tilpapara Matrisadan in Khilgaon are also vaccinating people from today.
