Orientation workshop on UNSDCF Process held

Bangladesh Employers’ Federation, with support from the International Labour Organization country office in Dhaka, organised a two-day online orientation workshop on the United Nations Strategic Development Country Framework Process and Private Sector Engagement in Bangladesh on June 7-8.

The programme’s goal was to provide an overview of the UNSDCF and ensure its common understanding among the private sector stakeholders to facilitate the Sustainable Development Goal implementation in Bangladesh, a press statement said.

BEF President Kamran T Rahman inaugurated the workshop. ILO Country Director Tuomo Poutiainen spoke among others in the inaugural ceremony.

Denis Nguyen, an expert on UN system, conducted the familiarisation workshop as the main resource person.

Khadija Khondker, senior programme officer, ILO Dhaka office and Ravi Peiris, senior employers’ specialist from ILO, New Delhi were the other resource persons.

The online event was attended by the major private sector stakeholders — members of BEF, sectoral associations, trade bodies and representatives from industry skills councils.

BEF as a constituent of ILO had taken the liberty of playing the role of coordinating among the various private sector trade bodies and associations.

The employers’ federation is a national level platform of employers dealing with labour, employment and social policy issues in Bangladesh.

It also works very closely with the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
