Reputed Bangladeshi pharmaceutical company Orion Pharma Limited has expressed its willingness to manufacture the Russian Sputnik V vaccine for Covid-19.
The company recently contracted with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), a self-governing wealth fund responsible for marketing and promoting the Sputnik V vaccine, seeking the transfer of technology for manufacturing the vaccine at its plant.
It was learned through a disclosure of the company at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
Orin said it has informed its preliminary proposal as a normal and regular business communication of the company made to RDIF.
The success of the company in acquiring the required technology will depend on the final decision of RDIF and subsequent approval of the Bangladesh government, the company added in its disclosure.
Orion said it also informed the company’s primary proposal to the Directorate General of Drug Administration, Health Services Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
