Dr Badiul Alam Majumder, the head of the Electoral System Reform Commission, on Tuesday said they would place recommendations, reviewing all aspects of the electoral system.

"We will review all aspects of the electoral system and prepare recommendations on the basis of it. But it is not our responsibility to implement," he said.

Majumder, also the secretary of Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik (SHUJAN), said this replying to a question from journalists at a press conference in the National Press Club.

The National Girl Child Advocacy Forum arranged the press conference to place an observation report on the condition of girl children.

He said his commission will make recommendations and it has been given 90 days to do so from October 1 to December 31 next.

Replying to a question if it would be possible to hold an election completing reform tasks within the next 18 months, the head of the Electoral System Reform Commission said, "I don't know. I think it will take longer."

He said there will be dialogues between the political parties and the government. "A roadmap will be prepared and decisions will be made collectively," he added.

On September 11, Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus in a televised speech marking the first month of the interim government announced the formation of six commissions headed by six eminent citizens to reform the Constitution and five key institutions.

The commissions are the Electoral System Reform Commission headed by Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, the Police Administration Reform Commission headed by Sarfaraz Hossain, the Judiciary Reform Commission headed by Justice Shah Abu Naeem Mominur Rahman, Anti-Corruption Reform Commission headed by TIB's Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Public Administration Reform Commission headed by Abdul Mueed Chowdhury and Constitution Reform Commission headed by Distinguished Prof at Illinois State University Dr Ali Riaz.
