More than 200 stranded non-resident Bangladeshis including US immigrants, US immigrant visa holders and green card holders departed from Dhaka for Chicago by a special flight on Monday.
With support and approval of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), GD Assist arranged the special flight that took off at 7pm, said a press release.
The flight is scheduled to arrive in Chicago at around 10am (local time) on Tuesday, the release said.
Syed Moinuddin Ahmed, managing director, GD Assist, said upon formal approval from concerned authorities, GD Assist published a notice urging the stranded NRBs seeking to return to the United States to register for the flight.
Some 200+ passengers, consisting of US immigrant visa holders, US immigrants and green card holders, registered for the flight, he added.
GD Assist, a venture of Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd, has successfully carried out a few evacuations of around 250 stranded Bangladeshis from Thailand, Malaysia and India during the Covid-19 pandemic.
