Over 1 crore cattle sacrificed on Eid-ul-Azha

This year, a total of 1,00,41,812 cattle were sacrificed across the country on Eid-ul-Azha.

Last year, the number of cattle sacrificed across the country was 99,50,763. In 2021, the number was 90,93,242. This year, 91,049 more cattle were sacrificed than last year, according to a press release of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.

This year, the highest number of animals were sacrificed in Dhaka division and the lowest animal sacrifice was in Mymensingh division.

According to the information received from the field level, 25 lakh 48 thousand 184 cattle were sacrificed in Dhaka, 20 lakh 51 thousand 777 in Chattogram, 21 lakh 32 thousand 469 in Rajshahi, 9 lakh 49 thousand 581 in Khulna, 4 lakh 30 thousand 673 in Barishal, 3 lakh 94 thousand 39 in Sylhet, 11 lakh 49 thousand 187 in Rangpur and 3 lakh 85 thousand 902 in Mymensingh.

Among the cattle sacrificed, 45 lakh 81 thousand 60 were cows, 1 lakh 7 thousand 875 buffaloes, 48 lakh 49 thousand 328 goats, 5 lakh 2 thousand 307 sheep and 1 thousand 242 other animals were sacrificed, said the release.

It is to be noted that the number of sacrificial cattle across the country this year was 1 crore 25 lakh 36 thousand 333.
