The average monthly income of per household in Bangladesh has declined by 20.24 percent and expenditure has dropped by 6.14 percent due to the economic impact of Covid-19 pandemic, according to a survey conducted by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
The BBS survey titled 'Covid-19 Bangladesh: Ideas on Livelihood Survey 2020' was presented at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday.
The survey also revealed, the average monthly income of a household in the country was Taka 19,425 in March this year, which has dropped at Taka 15,692 in August.
On the other hand, the average monthly expenditure of a household was in the country was Taka 15,403 in March, which has come down to Taka 14,119 in August.
As a result, income decreased by 20.24 percent and expenditure decreased by 6.14 percent.
The BBS conducted the survey on September 13-19 by telephone. The survey was conducted by selecting a total of 2,040 phone numbers through random selection. This is the first telephone concept survey in the history of BBS.
