A passenger bus overturned on the slope of one of the connecting roads while getting on the Kuril Flyover in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon.

However, no casualty was reported immediately, according to police.

Confirming the incident, Khilkhet Police Station Sub-Inspector Shahin Alam said the Victor Classic bus overturned after the driver lost control while going up the flyover’s Pragati Sarani to Banani connecting road at around 1pm.

Shahin said no passenger or even the bus driver and his assistant were found at the scene when they rushed there.

Citing witnesses, he said the accident happened as this bus tried to avoid a head-on collision with another bus that was coming from the wrong side. No information on the other bus was available.

The police officer added that they are still not sure whether there were any casualties since they could not find any passengers at the scene. “But we are looking into it.”

The accident had caused gridlock for a while. However, the bus was moved from the road by a tow truck within one hour and traffic gradually returned to normal.
