Two patients at Dhaka North City Corporation's dedicated Covid-19 hospital have been found to have the deadly coronavirus strain that is plaguing India.

Confirming the matter, the hospital's director Brigadier General AKM Nasir on Friday said, "Two patients who recently returned from India were found to have the Indian variant of the novel coronavirus. We have sent their samples for testing to the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital."

All the returnees from India were being monitored strictly, he added.

"It is a challenging time we are passing through where everyone is at risk of getting infected with the virus. Therefore, we all must remain cautious of coronavirus transmission, wear facemasks and follow other health guidelines," AKM Nasir said, adding that the corona situation in Bangladesh might get horribly worse if the Indian variant spreads here.
