The jute market in Munshiganj’s Dighir Par is around 200 years old.

Wholesalers from different parts of the country, including Faridpur, Chandpur, and Narayanganj, come here to buy jute.

The market is open on Monday and Friday.

5,000 to 7,000 maunds of jute are sold here every market day when 500-600 labourers work.

Farmers are selling jute at Tk 2,300-2,500 per maund though production cost is Tk 900-1,100 per maund.

Traders, on the other hand, are selling jute at the mill gate at Tk 2,700-3,400 per maund.
