The High Court on Sunday granted anticipatory bail to Pirojpur Municipality Mayor Habibur Rahman Malek and his wife Nila Rahman in two graft cases.
The duo has been asked to surrender before the court after five weeks.
The bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukdar and Justice Mohi Uddin Shamim passed the order.
Advocate Sheikh Awsafur Rahman stood for the bail petitioner and Advocate AKM Fazlul Haque represented the state while Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin moved for the state.
ACC filed the case against Habibur Rahman, also brother of AKM A Awal, former MP of Pirojpur-1 constituency, on March 18 in Barishal for accumulating illegal wealth.
Another case was filed on the same day for allegedly appointing manpower in the municipality through fraudulence.
