'Please don’t beat me, I will not write news anymore’

Golam Sarwar, a journalist from Chattogram, was found unconscious at Kumira Union of Sitakunda with bruises all over his body on Sunday evening, four days after he went missing.

Witnesses say, the beaten up journalist of 'Ajker Surjodoy' was traumatised after regaining consciousness and was repeatedly saying,”Please don't beat me, I will not write news anymore. I will leave journalism."

He thought he was still being held captive and was frightened to the bones. Many people broke down into tears witnessing this heartbreaking scene.

The witnesses claim that some miscreants dropped Sarwar off in the Kumira area from an ambulance.

He was rushed to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital from Kumira and is currently undergoing treatment there.

Sarwar went missing on 29 October morning, 5 days after he wrote a report on land grabbing by a local influential person. Reaz Raihan Chowdhury, the Vice President of Bangladesh Federal Journalist Union said," He was receiving a lot of threats after the report was published.  He even filed a General Diary at Kotwali Police station for his safety."

He also reported on some other crimes and illegal gambling.
