The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) displayed a spectacular fly-past with various aircraft, marking the Padma Bridge inauguration on Saturday.

After the inauguration of the much-awaited Padma Bridge, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her way to cross the river got off her car and enjoyed the fly-past of 28 aircraft and helicopters of the Air Force.

Her daughter Saima Wazed, former communication minister Abul Hossain along with former bridges secretary Mosharraf Hossain and other dignitaries accompanied Sheikh Hasina at the moment.

A display of aerobatics was performed in the sky of Mawa-Jajira at 12:12pm and lasted for around 14 minutes.

Warplanes, transport planes and helicopters led by BAF Group Captain Md Moniruzzaman Howlader participated in the fly-past, the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) said in a press release.

In this event, MiG-29 and F-7 series warplanes, C-130J and L-410 transport aircraft, and Grob-120TP training aircraft flew in various formations as well as emitting colourful smoke passed through the venue.

Five Mi-17 helicopters were seen carrying the national flag, banners portraying Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Padma Bridge, and 'Joy Bangla' slogan.

In addition, leaflets were dropped from a Bell-212 helicopter for the guests attending the ceremony.

The fly-past ended with a captivating display of aerobatics of seven K-8Ws and a MiG-29, the ISPR added.
