Police arrested 22 people over the murder of five people of the same family in Ruma upazila of Bandarban district on Friday.
They were arrested following a special operation Friday night, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammad Abul Qasim Chowdhury, told BSS, adding that they were sent to the district court Saturday morning.
On Thursday night, a man and his four sons were killed by a group of agitated villagers during arbitral proceedings to end a long-pending land dispute with neighbours, Police and local sources said.
The deceased were identified as Long Yu Mro, 70, and his sons -- Ranthoi Mro, 35, Rangi Mro, 30, Men Oai Mro, 25, and Ring Rao Mro, 20.
The alleged crime occurred around 11.30pm on Thursday in the Abupara area of Gadhalenga union of the upazila.
Ruma police recovered the bodies and brought them to the police station on Friday afternoon.
Hypoy Mro, the wife of deceased Long Yu Mro, filed a case with Ruma Police station in this regard.
