A team of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Islamic orator Amir Hamza at his village home in Kushtia on Monday afternoon.
CTTC head M Asaduzzman told media that Amir Hamza was accused of provoking extremism and misleading explanation of religion.
He was being brought to Dhaka from Kushtia.
Earlier, Amir Hamza’s wife Tamanna Islam said that plainclothes people whisked her husband onto a microbus and left immediately.
All of them were wearing panjabi and paijama and one of them was carrying a rifle.
