The authorities on Sunday, the fourth day of the seven-day strict lockdown, arrested 618 people and fined 496 vehicles for violating the lockdown rules in Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 618 people roaming on the streets across the capital.
Meanwhile, the mobile court collected Tk 54,450 fine from 161 people who violated the lockdown curbs.
During this time, Traffic Division collected an amount of Tk 12,81,000 in penalties from the rules-breaking vehicles in different areas of the capital.
The law enforcement agencies were seen patrolling different city roads since Sunday morning while check posts also have been set up at several places in the capital.
Despite a vigilant position by the law enforcers on the fourth day, the number of both people and vehicles was more on the streets than the previous three days.
The government imposed a seven-day lockdown from July 1 to stem the increasing Covid-19 infections across the country. It will continue until July 7 midnight.
Police arrested 550 people on the first day of the ongoing lockdown, while the mobile courts fined 182 people Tk 1,32,395 across the country.
A total of 621 people were arrested from the capital and 346 people were fined Tk 1,06,450 on the third day of the ongoing lockdown for disobeying government orders during a joint operation of eights divisions of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Also, the Rapid Action Battalion's executive magistrates conducted 31 mobile courts across the country and fined 277 people around Tk 2 lakh across the country for violating the ban on the same day.
