Police obstructed madrasa teachers march towards the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) demanding nationalisation of their madrasas and jobs.
Teachers of registered ebtedayee madrasas on Sunday continued their sit-in programme in the capital for the 15th consecutive day under the banner of Bangladesh Independent Ebtedayee Madrasa Teachers' Association.
The march towards the Prime Minister's Office started at around 11am today. After facing resistance from police, a delegation from the association went to the PMO and submitted a memorandum.
Over 500 madrasa teachers from across the country gathered in front of the National Press Club and participated at the programme.
Kazi Foyezur Rahman, President of the Bangladesh Independent Ebtedayee Madrasa Teachers' Association said,” The government promised to accept all our demands during our 2018 hunger strike. But not a single demand has been implemented till date.”
