Police officer shot by ‘drug trader’: 3 placed on remand

A Dhaka court has placed three accused on a 1- day remand for each of them for their alleged involvement in the shooting of a law enforcer in the capital's Mohammadpur area during an anti-drug drive early Thursday.

The accused who remanded are Moniruzzaman, Asaduzzaman and Saidul Islam.

Rejecting the bail plea, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masud-Ur-Rahman passed the remand order on Friday. 

Earlier on today,  the investigation officer of the case produced the accused before the court and prayed for a 5-day remand for each of them. However the court granted 1-day remand for each of them.

Earlier on December 17, assistant sub-inspector of police Ujjal Hossain Khan sustained bullet injury while trying to arrest a drug dealer and was admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
