Police Week 2024 begins Tuesday

The six-day Police week 2024 will begin on Tuesday with the theme “Smart Police Smart Country, Bangladesh of Peace and Progress.” Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the event as chief guest at the city’s Rajarbagh Police Lines.

President Mohammad Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday greeted all the members of Bangladesh Police on the occasion.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner will lead the police parade as commander, with different police contingents participating.

Police headquarters sources say Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will take salute in a parade, and deliver a speech. She will visit the pavilion of Bangladesh Police Women Welfare Association.

Thirty-four police personnel will receive Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) and 60 others will receive President Police Medal (PPM) for their courageous service from December 1, 2022 to January 10, 2024.

Besides, 95 police personnel will receive the BPM Service Medal, while 210 others will get PPM service medal.

To mark the Police Week 2024, the Bangladesh Police has organised different programmes, which will be attended by the president, prime minister, chief justice, a number of ministers, including the home minister, and cabinet secretaries.

IGP Conference, IG's Badge, Shield Parade, distribution of awards for recoveries of arms and narcotics will take place as well.

Moreover, the previous year’s activities will be reviewed, and next year’s action plan will be set during working sessions through the Police Week. The event is scheduled to end on March 3.
