Popular Group chairman dies of coronavirus

Tahera Akter, chairman of Popular Medical College, Popular Diagnostic Centre Ltd and Popular Group, has died of coronavirus. She was 60.

She breathed her last at Shyamoli Specialized Hospital in Dhaka around 5:30pm Wednesday (June 10).

Popular Diagnostic Center-Bogura branch public relations officer Md Golam Kibria confirmed the news.

Tahera Akter was diagnosed with Covid-19 three weeks ago. She was earlier admitted to Popular Medical College Hospital in Dhanmondi where she was diagnosed with cardiac problems too. Later, she was shifted to Shyamoli Specialized Hospital for an angiogram where she died. 

Tahera lived with her family in the capital’s Banani. She might be buried at Banani Graveyard, said sources from Popular Group.
