The number of women in Bangladesh is greater than the number of men, according to the preliminary report of "Population and Housing Census 2022" revealed on Wednesday.
The preliminary report was disclosed in a publication ceremony held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka on Wednesday morning. Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury attended the event as the chief guest.
Preliminary findings show that the population of Bangladesh is 16,51,58,616, which was 14,40,43,697 in 2011.

Among the population, the total number of men in the country is 8,17,12,824, which was 7,21,09,796 in 2011. On the other hand, the total number of women in the country is 8,33,47,206, which was 7,19,33,901 in 2011.
The preliminary findings show that the gender ratio is 50.5:49.5.
