President to welcome Bhutanese King at airport Monday

President Mohammed Shahabuddin and First Lady Dr Rebeka Sultana will receive Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck at Dhaka airport as the Bhutanese King will arrive on Monday on a four-day visit.

“President Mohammed Shahabuddin and the First Lady Dr Rebeka Sultana will receive the king and Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck at the Hazrat Shahjalal (R.) International Airport (HISA) at 10:05am tomorrow,” President Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS Sunday.

The King will be given a ‘guard of honour’ with 21-gun salute upon his arrival at the airport.

From the airport, King Jigme Khesar is scheduled to pay respect to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 at 10:45am.

Later, the State Guest will reach his palace of residence at Hotel Intercontinental.

The press secretary said during the visit here the Bhutanese king will hold meeting with President Shahabuddin at the Credentials Hall in Bangabhaban at 5:30pm.

The President will host an Ifter party and dinner in honour of the Bhutanese King at Bangabhaban. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will also attend the programme.

The king will also meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud during the tour.

Bhutanese King will pay tribute to the Bangladesh Liberation War heroes at the National Martyrs' Memorial at Savar at 5:40pm on March 26 (Tuesday).

Bhutanese King will leave Dhaka by a special flight at 10:30am on Friday wrapping up his four-day visit to Bangladesh.

Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud is scheduled to see the Bhutanese king off at the airport.
