Health condition of President Mohammed Shahabuddin is improving gradually as he is now undergoing treatment following his coronary artery bypass surgery at the Singapore National University Hospital.
"The President is now able to move around the cabin on a limited scale... He is also reading newspapers," his press secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS this afternoon.
"The physical condition of the Head of State is gradually improving," the Bangabhaban spokesman quoted the attending physicians as saying.
Earlier, the President's bypass surgery was done successfully on Wednesday under the supervision of eminent cardiac surgeon Professor Dr Kofidis Theodoros.
A day after the surgery, he was kept in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.
The President was admitted to the National University Hospital of Singapore on Monday after the required health checkup.
On October 16, President Shahabuddin flew to Singapore for better treatment.
President's wife Dr. Rebecca Sultana and secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban are accompanying him during the overseas medical treatment.
