A Dhaka court on Tuesday again asked Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to submit by February 3 the probe report of a case filed over the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.

With today's date, the investigation officer (IO) has so far taken 77 dates to complete the investigation.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sayed passed the order on Tuesday as the IO in the case failed to submit the probe report by an earlier scheduled date.

Earlier on November 22, a Dhaka court asked RAB to submit by December 29 the probe report of a case filed over the murder of Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.

On September 8, a Dhaka court asked RAB to submit by October 14 the probe report of the case.

Earlier on November 11, 2019, the High Court expressed disappointment at the lack of significant progress in the investigation into the Sagar-Runi murder case.

Sagar Sarwar was a news editor of private TV channel Maasranga and Meherun Runi was a senior reporter at ATN Bangla.

On February 11, 2012, the couple was murdered in their flat at Raja Bazar in Dhaka.
