Prof Harun leaves Dhaka for Germany to join as ‘Bangabandhu Chair’

Former Vice-Chancellor of the National University Professor Dr Harun-ur-Rashid has left Dhaka for Germany to join as the Bangabandhu Chair at South Asia Institute of the University of Heidelberg.

Prof Harun along with his wife flew to Germany with a Qatar Airways early this morning, said a press release.

Under ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Professional Fellowship’, Harun will give lectures titled 'Bangladesh Lectures' along with taking part in different seminars, conferences and researches.

On March 31, 2021, Harun-ur-Rashid was nominated for the Bangabandhu Chair to the German institute for conducting higher-level research, the release added.

A total of 19 senior teachers of different public universities have applied for the nomination of Heidelberg Bangabandhu Chair.

A six-member jury board, including a representative from the University of Heidelberg, selected Prof Harun and nominated him for the Bangabandhu chair.
