Prof Jamal Uddin re-appointed as NICVD director

The government re-appointed professor Mir Jamal Uddin as director of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) on a contract basis for next year.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Thursday.

Jamal Uddin’s previous appointment ended on January 18.

Professor Jamal passed MBBS from Sher-E-Bangla Medical College, Barishal in 1985 and joined civil service in 1989 through 8th BCS.

He completed his MD in cardiology in 1997 and was promoted to Professor (Cardiology) in 2013.

In November 2019, he was promoted to the director of the NICVD and he is a pioneer in the field of interventional cardiology technology in the country.

The government awarded the Bangabandhu Public Administration Medal 2023 to NICVD in recognition of their significant contribution to research and human welfare under the leadership of Professor Jamal.

Jamal Uddin thanked and expressed gratefulness to the prime minister due to his re-appointment as a director of the NICVD, and seeking cooperation of all walks to ensure the medical care of the patients of hospital, the country’s only self-sufficient hospital for heart disease.

Jamal has been serving as the secretary general of Bangladesh Society of Cardiovascular Intervention (BSCI) and vice president of Bangladesh Cardiac Society.
