Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Chairman Prof M Khairul Hossain took charge of his office on Thursday morning.
Upon his arrival at the PKSF Bhaban in Dhaka, outgoing chairman Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad welcomed him with a bouquet. Senior officials of the organisation were also present there.
After taking charge, Khairul Hossain paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his portrait at Dhanmondi-32.
At that time, as a sign of respect to the Father of the Nation, he stood there in silence for a while, read a press release.
The government on Tuesday appointed Khairul as the new chairman of the PKSF for the next three years. He succeeded Qazi Kholiquzzaman who took office on November 15, 2009.
Khairul Hossain had served as a professor of the finance department at Dhaka University. He also served as the chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) and the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB).
