The government has appointed Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam as the chief of the Directorate General of Health Services.
He was a professor at Dhaka Medical College.
The appointment was made after Abul Kalam Azad resigned from the post of director-general amid intense criticisms regarding series of scams related to coronavirus tests and corruptions in the health sector.
Earlier in the day, the government cancelled the contract with Dr Abul Kalam Azad, two days after he submitted a resignation letter.
