Rail communication from Dhaka’s Airport Station resumed on Wednesday afternoon after railway authorities ensured tickets for Rajshahi University admission seekers by cancelling the weekly holiday of the “Silk City Express train”.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, rail communication from Dhaka to other destinations across the country, except Narayanganj, were suspended after protesters blocked the rail line at Airport Station.

Bangladesh Railway Divisional Transport Officer (Dhaka) Khairul Kabir said that protests erupted after some students, who are supposed to sit for Rajshahi University admission test, halted the operation of Nilsagar Express at Dhaka's Airport Station after not getting tickets.

As a result, no train could leave Kamalapur Station to destinations across the country, except for Narayanganj. However, trains are returning to Dhaka, he added.
