All kinds of social, political and religious gatherings will remain restricted till May 30 midnight as the ongoing lockdown has been extended to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

A new notification, issued by Cabinet Division on Sunday, however, allowed all types of public transports including inter-districts ones to ply and restaurants to resume their business with maintaining strict health measures.

Earlier, only intra-district public transports were allowed to ply due to 'strict' lockdown restrictions.
Hotels and food outlets are allowed to cater to half of their capacity, reads the notification.

The National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 earlier emphasised on extending the ongoing lockdown till the end of May and attached importance to maintaining social distance and hygiene.

Meanwhile, the government has extended the ongoing vacation for all kinds of educational institutions across the country till May 29.
