Dhaka Sarak Paribahan Malik Samity General Secretary Khandaker Enayetullah on Tuesday said the movement of public transport, including buses and minibusses, will remain normal amid the BNP's afresh 48-hour nationwide blockade starting on Wednesday.

"The Samity (association) has requested the owners of transport companies to keep transport movement normal across the country including Dhaka city," he said in a statement.

BNP has been taking anti-people programmes time and again to create an unstable situation in the country's political arena, Enayetullah said, adding, vandalism of vehicles, setting fire to transports, and burning workers alive in the name of the blockade cannot be tolerated in any way.

Transport owners and workers have already rejected the blockade called by BNP, he said, adding, keeping in mind the sufferings of commoners, the owners and workers will operate vehicles on roads ignoring the blockade.

The transport owners' leader urged the law enforcement agencies and concerned administration to take steps to ensure smooth movement of vehicles across the
country.
