The government has issued a gazette notification asking public transport to remain shut until midnight May 5.
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority issued the gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday.
The gazette said that the ban on all modes of public transport (road, river, rail and air) was extended until midnight May 5.
But goods-carrying, production and emergency services vehicles would be allowed to operate.
Bangladesh is observing a nationwide lockdown from April 5, which has been extended several times.
The Cabinet Division in an order extended the lockdown until May 5 to tackle the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Bangladesh reported 77 deaths from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00 am on Wednesday – the lowest single-day fatalities since April 13.
The latest death toll has pushed the total number of deaths to 11,305.
Besides, 2,955 more people tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of infected patients to 754,614, said a press release of Directorate General of Health Services.
The death rate now stands at 1.50 per cent and the infection rate at 10.48 per cent.
