Public transportation owners and workers’ leaders, at a meeting on Thursday, assured that such services will operate normally in Dhaka city, its suburbs, and on inter-district routes on December 10.

The decision came amid the tension surrounding a BNP rally scheduled to be held on December 10.

Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association General Secretary Khandaker Enayet Ullah presided over the meeting, where transport owners requested the law enforcers and administration to provide proper security to keep the transport services functioning smoothly.

Around 300 owners and workers from Sayedabad Bus Terminal, Mohakhali Bus Terminal, Gulistan TBC Road, Phulbaria Bus Terminal and various transport companies were present at the meeting, read a press release.

BNP has held nine divisional rallies outside Dhaka so far. Public transportation owners observed strikes during seven of those rallies, citing different reasons. BNP has been alleging that the strikes were called to stop rally attendees from reaching the venues.
