Qatar Charity, an international NGO, provided food packages to needy communities in Bangladesh, benefiting 57,970 individuals, under its two programmes.
Giving priority to orphans and widows, Qatar Charity implemented "Feed the Fasting" and "Zakat al-Fitr" in 33 places across the country, said a media release Saturday.
As part of the Ramadan aid programme, each family was provided with 42kg of foodstuff for one month – containing rice, cooking oil, sugar, lentils, dates and salt.
Under the Zakat al-Fitr, each of the targeted beneficiaries was given a 7kg food parcel.
A total of 26,470 beneficiaries from different regions received Ramadan aid while 31,500 people got Zakat al-Fitr food parcels.
