Quader, Anisul win unofficially by huge margins

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq have unofficially won from the Noakhali-5 and Brahmanbaria-4 constituency (Kasba-Akhaura upazilas) respectively in the 12th national election that concluded on Sunday.

According to the results received, Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges minister, received 1,81,279 votes in 132 centres. Meanwhile, his closest rival, Khwaja Tanvir Ahmed, received 3,719 votes.

Following them, Barrister Tanvir Ahmed, who ran on the electoral symbol of the plough, received only 9,702 votes. Quader has contested in the seven elections from this constituency before and has now won for the fifth time.

Meanwhile, Anisul bagged 2,20,667 votes while his nearest candidate Shaheen Khan from National Peoples Party with mango symbol secured only 6, 586 votes, putting a margin of 214, 081 votes.

Syed Zafrul Kuddus of Tarikat Federation got 4,574 votes with the symbol 'Garland of flowers'. The balloting was held at 118 centres in the both upazilas. 

Mentionable, the law minister clinched the victory from the seat for a third consecutive time.
