Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday (June 5) reiterated his warning against the transport owners who are charging extra fares and carrying additional passengers in buses amid coronavirus crisis.
“These types of activities are tantamount to breaking their promises,” he said.
The minister issued the warning while addressing the inaugural session of a virtual workshop through videoconferencing from his official residence in Dhaka.
“Despite having strong economies and improved health facilities, the developed countries have been struggling to tackle the coronavirus crisis and provide treatment to the Covid-19 patients”, he said.
Quader, also the Awami League general secretary, called upon AL leaders and activists to stand by the people amid this virus epidemic.
Earlier on Wednesday (June 3), Quader said that strict legal measures will be taken against those who will defy government directives and charge extra fare as it is a punishable offense.
