RAB arrests 3 ARSA members including ‘2nd-in-command’

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) including its second-in-command from a Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday midnight.

The arrestees are its second-in-command Abu Hashim 31, Hossain Johar alias Ali Johar 32, and Md Alam alias Shayer Musa 35.

Two foreign weapons, one locally-made firearm, and four rounds of cartridges were seized from their possession, reports UNB.

RAB-15 Commanding Officer Lt Col Sazzad Hossain disclosed the information at a press briefing in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday.

The RAB official said that on Sunday night, in the 20th extension Rohingya camp of Ukhiya, a young man named Md Asadullah was shot and hacked to death by 10 to 15 unidentified miscreants.

Following the incident, RAB-15 started their operation to arrest those involved in the murder.

Tipped off, a team of RAB-15 conducted a special drive at the camp on Tuesday midnight and arrested them including Abul Hashim and a bodyguard of ARSA chief Ataullah Jununi.”
