RAB detains two JMB members in Barguna

RAB-8 detained two active members of outlawed militant outfit JMB from Kodomtola area of  Sadar  upazila on Monday.

In a press release, RAB-8, Barishal informed that acting on intelligence the elite force conducted a raid at Kodomtola of Aila Patakata union under Barguna Sadar upazila and Horidrabaria area of Kewrabunia union. At this time, two active members of ‘dawati’ branch of JMB were detained.

The ‘dawati’ branch is active in the recruitment of new members to the extremist cause.

The detainees are Abdur Rahman, 44, of village Kodomtola and  Alamgir, 43, of village Horidrabaria.

During the raid, a huge number of books and leaflets on extremism were seized from their possession.

During preliminary questioning, the detainees confessed their involvement in the ‘dawati’ programme of JMB. They used to hold secret meetings, distribute leaflets and conduct member collection drive in various places of the country including Dhaka, Barishal and Barguna to carry out their ‘dawati’ programme.

Earlier, during quizzing of the arrested accused, important information was found against the two accused about their involvement in extremist activities.

Legal action against the detainees Abdur Rahman and Alamgir is under process. The RAB-8 remain active to bring their other accomplices under the purview of law, the press release added.
