RAB receives 140 complaints against Shahed till now

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) received 140 complaints against Regent Group's chairman Shahed Karim alias Md Shahed till now of opening a hotline number and an email address to receive complaints against him.

 “A total 120 complaints have been received in the hotline number and 20 received in email against Shahed till now,” said Ashik Billah, RAB Legal and Media Wing Director on Sunday.

Earlier on 18 July, RAB received 92 complaints against Shahed within 24 hours after opening to receive complaints.

On 18 July, Detective Branch (DB) police conducted a special drive with Shahed at Sonargaon Janapath area in Uttara. Drugs and arms were recovered from there during the raid on that night.

Earlier on 17 July, RAB set up the hotline to receive complaints against Shahed.

The victims of his frauds can seek legal help by calling the hotline number 01777720211.

Besides, individuals can also send emails regarding the issue at rabhq.invest@gmail.com.

Earlier On 16 July, A Dhaka court placed Regent Group's chairman Shahed and managing director Masud Parvez on 10-day remand each in connection with cases filed over providing fake Covid-19 test reports and embezzlement of Tk 3.68 crore.

On July 15, Shahed was arrested with illegal arms in a special drive from the bank of Labangaboti river in Komarpur village around 5:00am. Later, he was flown to Dhaka by a helicopter.

On July 13, a Dhaka court issued arrest warrants against Shahed in connection with two cases filed over misappropriation of Tk 3.68 crore.

Earler on July 7, A mobile court sealed off the head office of Regent Group and Uttara branch of Regent Hospital for issuing fake Covid-19 certificates and taking money from coronavirus patients for tests and treatment, violating an agreement with the government. Besides, Mirpur branch of the hospital was sealed off the following day.

According to the law enforcers, the hospital authorities took Tk 3,500 for each test, meaning they embezzled more than Tk 3.5 crore, despite having an agreement with the government on conducting tests and providing free treatment.
