Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will provide escort service to all long distance passenger buses to ensure smooth and safe movement of vehicles, RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin said.

In a video message sent Monday, Khandaker Al Moin said on the second day of 48-hour blockade programme, the elite anti-crime force deployed 460 patrol teams across the country, including 160 teams in the capital.

“We are conducting joint patrols and our intelligence surveillance continues. Besides, we have made security arrangements for long distance goods and passenger transportation. We are also coordinating with owners of various long distance transports and giving escort to reach long distance buses to its destination,” Al Moin added.

About movement of garment workers, he said, “We have visited several areas including Dhaka, Gazipur, Savar and Kaliakoir areas, where most garment workers resides, last Saturday.”

The RAB has given a cautionary message to those who tried to destroy the garment sector by creating anarchy and violence, the RAB director said.

He said, “We have arrested some people who are not garment workers but associated with different political parties, who want to gain their own interests by creating chaos or provocation in garments.

“Due to our cautionary message and detention of those who were instigating for vandalism behind the scene, peace returned in garment sector. Garment workers are now working safely,” he added.
