Raid at another office in Uttara with Shahed
Shahed was flown to Dhaka by a helicopter. He landed at Tajgaon old airport at 9:00 am on July 15, 2020.

After arresting Shahed Karim alias Md Shahed, the main accused in the Regent Hospital fraud case, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) went to conduct a raid on a house in the capital's Uttara area with him.

The operation began at around 12:30 pm on Wednesday in a flat of house No. 62, Road No. 20, Sector 11 in Uttara.

Surrounding the building since Wednesday morning, RAB entered the building with Shahed at 12:26 pm finally. He was wearing a bulletproof vest and a helmet.

Earlier, RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam scouted the building at 12:15 pm.

The operation is being carried out in flat number 4(A) of this building with the arrested Regent Group and Regent Hospital Limited Chairman Shahed, said RAB sources.

However, it has not been confirmed yet whether it is Shahed's own flat or not.

Earlier, Shahed was brought to Dhaka at around 9 am and kept at the RAB headquarters. After initial interrogation, the house in Uttara was raided.

Asked why the operation was going on there, Lieutenant Colonel Ashiq Billah, director of the RAB's law and media wing, said, "This is Shahed's second office."

RAB law and media wing director also said that they came to know about this flat after the arrest of Shahed.

Shahed, the owner of Regent Group, was on the run for a week in the case of fraud and forgery in the name of diagnosis and treatment amid the coronavirus pandemic. He, while trying to flee to India wearing a Burka, was finally arrested from the Debhata border in Satkhira on Wednesday morning and brought to Dhaka by helicopter.

Earlier on 14 July, RAB also arrested Masud Parvez from Kapasia upazila of Gazipur. He is the managing director of Regent Hospital Ltd.

On the same day, a Dhaka court sent seven employees of Regent Hospital to jail after the end of their remand in the case.

On 7 July, RAB filed a case with Uttara Paschim Thana accusing Regent Hospital authorities of issuing fake coronavirus certificates. The lawsuit was filed against 17 people including Md Shahed, the chairman of Regent Group.
