Train communications between Khulna and other parts of the country were restored on Monday afternoon, 11 hours after five carriages of an oil-laden train derailed in Chuadanga.

Md Anwar Hossain, transport officer of Pakshi Divisional Railway, said the train communications resumed around 12:00pm after a relief train from Ishwardi cleared the rail track.

Earlier, rail link with Khulna was snapped as the carriages veered off the track at Uthli railway station in Jibannagar upazila around 12:40am.

The freight train carrying fuel oil was heading towards Natore from Khulna.

A relief train from Ishwardi joined the salvage operation around 7:30am.

Due to the derailment, four trains got stuck at different stations, causing huge sufferings to the passengers.

Meanwhile, a five-member probe body, led by Anwar Hossain, was formed to look into the incident.
