Railway employee wards want extending govt job age limit

Wards of Bangladesh Railway employees have demanded a two-year grace in age limit for seeking a government job.

Recruitment process in all government jobs remained stalled for the Covid-19 situation and there was a gridlock in holding examinations and publishing results in educational institutions.

The wards of the railway employees at a press conference on Monday raised the demand

Moniruzzaman Monir, President of Bangladesh Railway Poshya Society, at the press conference said that all the educational institutions remained closed from March 20, 2020 taking a huge toll on the students.

Very few circulars for government jobs were issued during the period and students have lost one to two priceless years from their lives, he said.

Due to the pandemic, many job seekers have lost their eligibility to apply for government jobs and they are about to end their age limit in 2021, he said.

He said that the government continued to extend a lockdown to tackle the second wave of the coronavirus and the jobseekers were getting more frustrated.

He demanded that the government should fix the age limit for applying for government jobs at 32 years which is now 30.
