Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted light rain or drizzle at some places in the country, including Dhaka, in the next 24 hours.

A mild cold wave is also expected from the first week of January. Met officials expect the cold wave to sweep over the northern region of the country.

Meanwhile, other than the northern districts, most of the country enjoyed tolerably mild day temperature for the last three days, which will continue for two more days, met officials said. Nighttime fog will also persist.

The temperature has been warmer than usual because of the cloudy sky, the Meteorological Department said. The clouds coming in from the Himalayan Foothills are responsible for the weather, which will continue for another 2-3 days.

On the other hand, clouds from the Mediterranean are located nearby and incoming warm and humid eastern wind will likely cause rain in some places of the country, including the northern region.

"After a couple of days of rain, the temperature will start to fall and another cold wave will sweep over the northern districts from January 1 to January 3," Meteorologist Abdul Mannan said.

Country's maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 27.8 degrees Celsius jointly at Chattogram and Cox's Bazar and minimum temperature Tuesday was recorded 8.4 degrees Celsius at Tetulia, BSS reported

Sun will set at 5:20pm and will rise at 6:40am at Dhaka.
