Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur in parts of the country, said a met forecast for the next 24 hours from 9am Thursday.

"Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka and Chattogram divisions," it said.

Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, reports BSS.

Trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal to Northwest Bay. Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Teknaf coast as conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest monsoon.

Country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 36.4 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi and the minimum temperature today was 21.5 degrees Celsius at Netrokona. 

Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am Thrusday was recorded 35 millimeters (mm) at Netrokona.

Day and night temperatures may fall slightly over northern part and may rise slightly elsewhere over the country.

The sun sets at 6:42pm Thursday and rises at 5:11am Friday in the capital.
