Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton along with port users, importers and top business leaders visited Payra Port on Tuesday.
The mayor’s visit aims to increase the import-export activities of goods with the northern part of the country using Payra Port.
RCC mayor with the Payra Port Authority exchanged views in a meeting held on Tuesday morning at the conference room of the port.
On behalf of the port, Commodore Rajib Tripura, member (Engineering and Development) of the port presented a powerpoint presentation to the mayor and the accompanying business delegation while Capt Mohammad Zahid Hossain, member (Harbour & Marine) of the port and other officials were present in the event.
At this meeting, the country’s prominent business leaders expressed their interest in investing in the potential sectors of Payra Port and expressed their interest in setting up industries in the own economic zone of Payra Port.
The meeting also discussed the development of river connectivity with Payra Port and Sultanganj river port of Rajshahi and increasing the transportation of goods.
At the end of the meeting with the mayor, the delegation visited various development projects including the first terminal of Payra Port and appreciated the development of the port.
