Moon not sighted, Ramadan begins Friday

The holy month of Ramadan will begin in Bangladesh on Friday as the new crescent moon was not sighted in the country's sky.

The National Moon Sighting Committee took this decision on Wednesday at a meeting held at the Islamic Foundation's Baitul Mukarram office.

State Minister for Religious Affairs and President of the National Moon Sighting Committee Md Faridul Haque Khan disclosed the information to the media.

“The moon of the month of Ramadan was not seen anywhere in the sky of the country. Therefore, fasting will start on Friday, and Taraweeh prayers will begin on Thursday night,” he said.
