On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the Impact Initiative (IMI) has distributed Ramadan Food Packages among the Rohingya refugees who are currently living in Bhasan Char Island.

The donor agency MAA International - Australia has sponsored this Ramadan Food Program. Approximately 34,500 Rohingya people from 62 clusters of Bhasan Char are the beneficiaries of the food program, read a press release.

In continuation of the previous years, MAA has extended their humanitarian support to the Rohingya refugees, one of the repressed and helpless nations on this planet.

Food Pack includes Chickpeas 2kg, Kheshari Lentils 2kg, Flattened Rice 2kg, Flour 2kg, Sugar 1kg, Noodles (10 Pcs pack), Vermicelli (2 Packets), Lemon Juice Powder 200g, and Dates 500gram for 29000 people and fresh cow  meat  for 34500 people.

Apart from the Food Package, Impact Initiative started ifter meal distribution for all families staying in Bhasan Char and it will continue till Ramadan.

The organisation also plans to distribute 1000 clothes among the elderly men while last year they provided clothes among the Rohingya women living in the Bhasan Char Island.

On the second day of Ramadan, Impact Initiative (IMI), with a view to provide nutritious food, IMI brought 62 large size cows from the mainland to Bhasan Char island and slaughtered them for the fresh meat.

Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner and Additional Secretary of Bangladesh Government, Mahfuzar Rahman had directly supervised the relief distribution program with the cooperation of NGO representatives.

The CEO of the organisation said that such types of support will be continued for the vulnerable Rohingya communities in future as well.

Abdul Hameed, the focal person of Rohingya refugee cluster number 85 expressed his reaction saying that only MAA offered them large size cows and Ramadan food packages among them every year.

“We are very happy and satisfied with this aid.  Our children don't get adequate nutrition round the year, while MAA extended their support during the holy Qurbani, even this Ramadan. These aids helped us enormously.” he said.
